For more than 30 minutes, the eighth-seeded LMU women's basketball team hung with top-seed Gonzaga Friday afternoon in the 2015 West Coast Conference Championships quarterfinal match-up. But with eight minutes remaining, the Zags used a full court press to kickstart a 10-0 run that would allow them to pull away for a 70-50 win over the Lions.

The 2015 West Coast Conference Men's Championships begin today, Friday, Mar. 6 and LMU will face Santa Clara in the second game of the day at approximately 8 pm. Before the tip-off, the Lions did one last walk through in Las Vegas on Thursday night, and as a final point of focus, they got a special message from a big family name in basketball.

Olivia Lucero sank one of two free throws with 11 seconds remaining and a final three point attempt by Pepperdine rimmed out as the LMU women's basketball team hung on for a 68-67 win over their rival Waves in the 8/9 opening round game of the 2015 West Coast Conference Championship Thursday at the Orleans Arena.

LMU (8-4) will hit the road for its lone non-conference away weekend series this year, traveling to Arkansas (7-2) for three games starting on Friday at 1:05 pm PT...Saturday's 1:05 pm PT game will then be followed by an 11:05 am PT finale on Sunday...the two teams have played only one other game in program history, as the Lions defeated...
