Basketball Weekend Part of 'Vegas Week'

Los Angeles, CA (Jan. 15) - The campus of Loyola Marymount University was filled and full of activity once again as the students returned for the start of classes on Wednesday, Jan. 15. With the start of the Spring Semester, the LMU campus will welcome the students back with a week full activities that will conclude with the men's basketball games this weekend.

"Vegas Week" welcomed students back to campus and has a full schedule of activities for the LMU Community. The Las Vegas-themed week began on Monday, Jan. 13 when the Residence Halls were open to the student body. They will conclude with a fun-filled weekend, which includes the men's basketball games against San Diego on Jan. 17 and Santa Clara on Jan. 18.

On Thursday, Jan. 16 the "Vegas Week" will include "Casino Night." Students can test their luck without losing their own money in the backcourt of the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center. The "casino" opens at 8 p.m. and includes real tables and real dealers.

Friday, Jan. 17 will start with the "Big Game," as the Lions will battle San Diego in a key West Coast Conference match-up at 7:00 p.m. Following the game will be the "Rim Jungle - Big Game After Party" in the backcourt of the Burns Recreation Center. The party will be themed after many of the famous hotels and hot spots of Las Vegas.

The week will conclude on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Lions game against Santa Clara will start the day at 7:00 p.m. in Gersten Pavilion. Following the game, it will be a Vegas-themed movie night in St. Robert's Theater. Showing at 10:00 p.m. will be Singer's and then at 12:00 a.m. will be Ocean's 11.
