DAILY BREEZE: LMU Recalls the Hearts of a Few Lions
The Daily Breeze's Chris Jackson reports on the LMU Athletics Hall of Fame Induction.
Jan. 20, 2007
The following excerpt ran in the January 20 edition of the Daily Breeze.
The annual Loyola Marymount Hall of Fame induction ceremony took on added meaning this year.
It wasn't just a celebration of athletic achievement, but a celebration of the life of volleyball great Kim Blankinship, who died suddenly at the age of 31 on Oct. 16.
Blankinship, who led LMU to three West Coast Conference volleyball titles and three NCAA Tournament appearances from 1993 to 1996, was represented at Friday night's ceremony by her family.
Her older sister, Kristi Copeland, said the former Torrance High star would never have made the event about herself.
