12 Earn WCC Fall All-Academic Recognition
12 LMU student-athletes earned All-Academic recognition for the fall semester.

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - A total of 12 LMU student-athletes earned spots on the West Coast Conference's Fall 2009 All-Academic teams today, including three that were awarded first team honors.
To qualify, a student-athlete must earn at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average, be at least a sophomore and be a significant contributor to the team.
Finnigan amassed a 3.31 GPA as a business administration major while finishing 14th at the WCC Cross Country Championships. The native of Glendora, Calif. was a top-five finisher for the Lions all season, including at the NCAA West Regional meet.
Chaidez ran a personal-best 23:47 at the NCAA West Regional meet this season en route to her selection. A mainstay of the LMU top-five, she placed 13th at the WCC Cross Country Championship. A native of San Jose, Calif., she finished the semester with a 3.24 GPA as a communication studies major.
Sampson, a business administration major who sported a 3.52 GPA, earned All-WCC honorable mention accolades after holding opponents to a 1.33 goals against average as a senior goalkeeper for the Lions. The native of Lake Oswego, Ore. was also named to the Lowe's Senior CLASS All-America second team.
"The West Coast Conference is proud to recognize these extraordinary student-athletes who are perfect examples of being leaders in both the classroom and the playing field," said WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich. "These nominees are proof of the core values of our member institutions and they should all be congratulated for their efforts."
Additionally, nine others earned honorable mention notice in their respective sports. Gregory Innes made the list for men's cross country, while Megan Fairley was lauded on the women's side. Becky Stehling, Lauren DeGrandmont and Megan Nash were selected for women's volleyball. Stehling earned All-Academic first team honors last season. Four women's soccer players also received honorable mention accolades, as Lacey Bartels, Kim Feeney, Leslie Grandy and Tiffany Harrison were all selected.
