Pair of Hoopsters Named All-Academic
Max Criag and Lisa Helmers have been named to the 2008 West Coast Conference All-Academic team.

Los Angeles, CA - Loyola Marymount men's basketball sophomore Max Craig and women's basketball sophomore Lisa Helmers have been named to the 2008 West Coast Conference Winter All-Academic team released by the conference on Friday. The WCC selects an all-academic squad for each participating sponsored sport. It is the first honor for both Craig and Helmers.
There were 12 players named to the women's basketball All-Academic team while seven where named to the men's team. Helmers is a Sociology major with a 3.85 grade point average. Craig has a 3.05 GPA in Business.
Helmers has started 27 of the Lions' 28 games heading into the final weekend of the regular season. She leads the team with 53 three-pointers, ranking fourth all-time LMU women's basketball season. She has averaged 24.6 minutes per game, scoring 7.5 points with 71.8 percent clip from the free throw line.
As for Craig, he has played in 24 of the Lions' 28 games while making seven starts. He is averaging 10.5 minutes per contest and has 51 points with 34 rebounds on the season. The seven-footer also has seven steals, two blocks and four assists.
The women's team wraps-up there season against San Diego on Senior Day at Gersten Pavilion on Saturday while the Lions begin their final road trip of the regular season on Saturday at 7 p.m. in San Francisco.
