LMU Hires Student-Athlete Academic Coordinator
Schaukowitch's main responsibilities will be the coordination of the more than 320 athletes and the fulfillment of their scholastic requirements needed to graduate, ensure that the University meets NCAA academic guidelines and coordinate with the athletes the on-campus resources available to assist higher learning.
Schaukowitch is familiar to Loyola Marymount's conference affiliation, the West Coast Conference, as she comes from the University of Portland where she served in a similar role as academic advisor to Student-Athletes. She also received her doctorate in Private School Administration in International and Multicultural Education from the University of San Francisco in 1995.
Prior to Portland, she was at Notre Dame University with the Alliance of Catholic Education. For ten years she served in Resident Ministry for Santa Clara University, Saint Mary's University and at LMU. Following her B.A. in History in 1970 at Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin, she taught social studies in Milwaukee, WI. She received her M.A. in Religious Education at Fordham University in 1980.
