Los Angeles, CA (July 29) -- The Second Annual LionsFund Summer Drive is off another great start this year as it nears the midpoint of the 6-week campaign. With nearly $20,000 raised in gifts and pledges during the first two weeks, this year's efforts are on pace to exceed last summer's inaugural total of $56,000.

The LionsFund Summer Drive was established in 2002 to raise support for LMU Athletics in preparation for the coming season. Led by a volunteer group of alumni, parents, and fans, the Fund Drive serves as the kickoff to the new season for LMU Athletics. By raising gifts and pledges to LionsFund during the summer and in advance of the beginning of competition, the funds can be used to help LMU Athletics have an even more successful 2003-04 season and impact the programs in the year to come.

No matter which of LMU's teams you are a fan of, gifts to LionsFund are depended upon by each of the University's 17 intercollegiate teams for annual scholarships and operations. Providing resources to assist student-athletes both in competition and in the classroom, LionsFund is an important part of LMU's efforts to build an even brighter future for our athletic teams.

The 2003 LionsFund Summer Drive runs through Friday, August 15, 2003. If you have not yet made your gift or pledge to the Summer Drive, be sure to join today by calling (310) 338-2908, emailing golions@lmu.edu, or downloading the form (link at top of page). Each and every gift makes a difference, and it is your support that will help LMU Athletics toward our goal this year of Building Champions.
