LionsFund Summer Drive Continues Record Pace
Under two weeks remaining in Fourth Annual LionsFund Summer Drive - Make your pledge today!
Aug. 3, 2005
Los Angeles, CA (August 3) - The Fourth Annual LionsFund Summer Drive continues to set a record pace in helping the LMU Athletics teams prepare for the coming season. With only a week and a half to go in the 2005 campaign, the Summer Drive has already established a new record with over $90,000 raised during the last four weeks, breaking the previous record of $78,298 set in 2004. Over 200 donors have made a gift or pledge this last month, over halfway to the goal of 300 for the Summer Drive and with 100 donors to gain in the final week.
At the end of August, each of the LionsFund Summer Drive donors will be invited to join LMU Athletics coaches, staff, and student-athletes at the LMU Athletics Welcome Back BBQ, to be held on campus on the evening of Wednesday, August 31. An annual event to mark the beginning of a new LMU Athletics season, this year's BBQ will also include the presentation of the 2004-05 LMU Student-Athlete of the Year awards, and remarks from Athletic Director Bill Husak, SAAC President Amy Lauber '06, and LionsFund Council Chair Tom Morley '90.
The LionsFund Summer Drive was established in 2002 to raise support for LMU Athletics and give the teams an advantage heading into the new season. Led by a volunteer group of nearly 50 alumni, parents, and fans, the Fund Drive serves as a kickoff to the new season for LMU Athletics. By raising gifts and pledges during the summer, the funds can be used to give the student-athletes an edge on the competition heading into the new school year and lead to an even more successful 2005-06 season. Last year's Summer Drive raised a record $78,000 during the month of July, providing the start to a record-breaking year for LionsFund in which nearly $350,000 total was raised in support of the student-athletes at LMU.
No matter which of LMU's teams you are a fan of, gifts to LionsFund are depended upon by each of the University's 17 intercollegiate teams for annual scholarships and operations. Providing resources to assist student-athletes in both the classroom and in competition, LionsFund is an important part of LMU's efforts toward Building Champions.
The 2005 LionsFund Summer Drive runs through Friday, August 12, 2005. If you have not yet made your gift or pledge to the Summer Drive, be sure to join us today by calling (310) 338-2908, email email@example.com, or download the form (link at top of page). Each and every gift makes a difference for our teams and student-athletes, so be sure to join today!
