LMU Starts 2002-03 Season With 5-1-1 Record

Los Angeles, CA (Sept. 3, 2002) -- It was a busy Labor Day weekend at Loyola Marymount University. The Lions hosted 12 events in four days, participating in seven of them to complete the weekend with an impressive 5-1-1 record.

The women's volleyball team won two of three in the LMU Invitational. They earned 3-0 victories over Bradley and Oklahoma before falling to Duke in the championship game.

The men's soccer team also hosted a tournament this Labor Day weekend. They finished 1-0-1, earning a 3-0 victory over Wisconsin-Green Bay and a 0-0 tie in the Southern California heat on Sunday.

Completing the weekend was the women's soccer program. They are off to a 2-0 start thanks to a 4-0 win over San Jose State on Saturday and a 1-0 overtime win against San Diego State on Monday.

Also in competition this weekend was the cross country team, who participated in the Cal State Fullerton Invitational. The women's team finished 12th and the men finished 14th.
