Lions' Audio Network To Kickoff Season
Revamped Audio Network to feature a monthly coaches show and more than 110 game broadcasts in 2003-04.
Sept. 18, 2003
Los Angeles, CA (Sept. 18) -- Students, alumni and fans across the country will be able to follow Loyola Marymount University athletics in 2003-04 by listening to the Lions' Audio Network. Thanks to partnerships with KXLU 88.9, KLMU 840AM, Yahoo! Sports and OCSN, more than 110 games will be broadcast through the Lions' Audio Network in 2003-04, including a new monthly coaches show.
Thanks to a renewed partnership, LMU will team with Yahoo! Sports to deliver enhanced real-time audio broadcasts throughout the 2003-04 school year. Every game and the nine coaches shows can be heard through the official home of LMU athletics at www.LMULions.com, which is a member of the Official College Sports Network (OCSN). In addition, LMU will join KXLU, the official student station of LMU, and its AM affiliate KLMU in broadcasting the coaches shows and every LMU men's and women's basketball game. KXLU has been broadcasting LMU basketball for more than 45 years.
The Lions' Coaches Show will debut on KXLU and LMULions.com with a special one-hour show on Monday, Oct.6 from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. The show will then switch to its half-hour format and air live the first Monday of every month at 9:30 p.m. Closing out the 2003 calendar year, the shows will be on Nov. 3 and Dec. 1.
The one-hour coaches show on Oct. 6 will be a part of the KXLU Fundraiser. The listener-supported student station of LMU operates solely on listener donations. Each year they run a one-week fundraiser to meet its financial requirements. For the first time, LMU Athletics will be a part of the fundraiser, auctioning off athletic prizes during the coaches show with all funds going to KXLU.
The first game broadcast on the Lions' Audio Network this 2003-04 season will be the women's volleyball team taking on San Diego State on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. Every game throught the Lions' Audio Network will be broadcast on LMULions.com through Yahoo! Sports.
The Yahoo! Sports audio offerings are available for both broadband and dial-up users. As a result, alumni that live thousands of miles from their alma mater will be able to follow every game as if they were back on campus and listening to their hometown announcers. This year, Yahoo! Sports will be providing fans with higher-quality audio streaming, and more content from participating schools.
By logging on to either LMULions.com or Yahoo! Sports and selecting one of two subscription options, fans can access the live audio broadcasts. In addition, a portion of the revenue from each subscription goes directly to each school's athletic department, so fans will be supporting the Lions' financially as well.
All of the schools that are making audio content available via Yahoo! Sports in 2003 - including LMU - will offer the following subscription packages:
1. School Pass Subscription - users can access all broadcasts for LMU on a monthly or annual basis. For example, users can pay $4.95 per month or $29.95 per year to gain access to all streamed sports broadcasts for only LMU.
2. College Pack Subscription - each school will be integrated into and offered as part of the College Pack subscription for $9.95/month or $59.95/year. This package allows users to access all college broadcasts for ALL schools.
Follow the Lions all season on the Lions' Audio Network.
