Basketball Games to be Audio Streamed on Yahoo!Broadcast

Loyola Marymount University will begin a brand new feature on LMULions.com and provide internet broadcasts via the official athletics website.

The internet broadcast package with FANSOnly, the official internet provider for LMU athletics, and Yahoo!Broadcast is a three-year agreement and for the 2001-02 athletics season includes the live airing of all men's basketball and women's basketball games plus any postseason matches involving the many other LMU athletic teams. All told, approximately 75 athletics events will be broadcast from now through the end of of the 2001-02 school year.

The audio broadcasts on LMULions.com will begin with the Wednesday, Nov. 7 broadcast of the men's basketball exhibition game between Basketball Travelers and the women's basketball WNIT first round game against Oregon State on Friday, Nov. 9. The internet broadcasts is an addition to the ever expanding Lions' Broadcast Network, that will air all men's basketball games on KXLU 88.9 FM and all women's basketball contests on KLMU AM.

KXLU has been airing LMU athletic events for over 40 years and joining the broadcast team will be play-by-play announcer Jeff Lampe. With over 10 years of radio experience, Lampe will work with LMU students. This year Lampe will work with sophomore Ryan McGrady on all 30 LMU men's basketball contests. Sophomore Matt Calkins will broadcast the women's games this season. KXLU and KLMU are student-ran stations and exemplify the LMU mission of educating the whole person. The Lions' Broadcast Network provides opportunities for LMU students to excel in the field of broadcast journalism.
