LIONS CUP STANDINGS - Oct. 11, 2011
Lions Cup Goal:
To promote healthy competition in order to aid teams to develop: Leadership, teamwork, supporting other athletes, and academic achievement.
SCHOLARLY SUCCESS
100 points for the team who wins the Schaukowitch Cup (highest GPA during the school year)
100 points per student-athlete (male and female are separate) who achieves the highest GPA during the school year, will be awarded to their respective teams (No Limit)
75 points per team who has an individual win Academic All-American, Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, NCAA and/or Conference Post-Graduate Scholarship Honors
Per Semester Points:
75 points for the team with the highest GPA.
60 points per team over a 3.30 GPA average(teams without highest GPA)
50 points per team with an average GPA in between 3.20-3.29
40 points per team with an average GPA in between 3.10-3.19
25 points per team with an average GPA in between 3.00-3.09
10 points per team with an average GPA in between 2.50-2.99
ATHLETIC EXCELLENCE
250 points for a team who wins a National Championship
200 points for a team who has an individual win a National Championship or earn National Athlete of the Year Honors
150 points for a team who is a National Runner-Up
125 points for a team who has an individual place in the top-ten Nationally or has a student-athlete earn All American
100 points for a team who wins a Conference Championship (either Regular Season or Tournament, can only get a maximum of 100 points)
100 points for a team who has a student-athlete win Conference Athlete of the Year
75 points for a team who qualifies for an NCAA National Tournament
50 points for a team who qualifies for a non-NCAA Post-Season Tournament
40 points for a team who places 2nd in their Conference and does not qualify for a Post-Season Tournament
30 points for a team who places 3rd in their Conference and does not qualify for a Post-Season Tournament
20 points for a team who places 4th in their Conference and does not qualify for a Post-Season Tournament
5 points for a team who places in 5-7th in their Conference and does not qualify for a Post-Season Tournament
COMMUNITY SERVICE
50 points per team for each Community Service Event (No Limit) in which:
Teams with less than 11 members must have 90% in attendance
Teams with 12-25 members must have 75% in attendance in 1 event
Teams with more than 25 members must have 60% attendance in 1 event
35 points per team for each Community Service Event (No Limit) in which:
Teams with less than 11 members must have 60% in attendance
Teams with 12-25 members must have 50% in attendance in 1 event
Teams with more than 25 members must have 40% attendance in 1 event
* INDIVIDUAL POINTS: - for each student-athlete who volunteers for one hour (is not counted if the team is already awarded points for the same event). (limited to 5 pts per semester, per person)
PERSONAL ENHANCEMENT
50 points per team for each SAM or Athletics Department Speaker (No Limit) in which:
Teams with less than 11 members must have 90% in attendance
Teams with 12-25 members must have 75% in attendance in 1 event
Teams with more than 25 members must have 60% attendance in 1 event
35 points per team for each SAM or Athletics Department Speaker (No Limit) in which:
Teams with less than 11 members must have 60% in attendance
Teams with 12-25 members must have 50% in attendance in 1 event
Teams with more than 25 members must have 40% attendance in 1 event
If a team does not reach either standard, listed above, they will receive 1 point per student-athlete in attendance at a specific speaking engagement.
* INDIVIDUAL POINTS: - for each student-athlete who attends a workshop or speaking engagement (does not count if the team already receives points for this engagement). This includes the speakers that the Student-Athlete Mentors and Athletics Department sponsors. (limited to 5 pts per semester, per person). For any event that is not sponsored by the SAM's or Athletics Department, each student-athlete must bring verification of attendance. The Assistant Athletics Director and SAAC Special Events Coordinator will decide what counts towards points in this area, on a case-by-case basis.
ATHLETES SUPPORTING ATHLETES
50 points per team for each Code Lion game attended (and must stay at least half the game) in which:
Teams with less than 11 members must have 90% in attendance
Teams with 12-25 members must have 75% in attendance in 1 event
Teams with more than 25 members must have 60% attendance in 1 event
35 points per team for each Code Lion game attended (and must stay at least half the game) in which:
Teams with less than 11 members must have 60% in attendance
Teams with 12-25 members must have 50% in attendance in 1 event
Teams with more than 25 members must have 40% attendance in 1 event
25 points per team for each time a team does something special for another team (No Limit), for example:
Brings a team something special before a game, tournament, or race.
Does something noticeable in a positive way to support a team.
SAAC LEADERSHIP/ATTENDENCE
50 points per team for each SAAC event sponsored event attended (and must stay at least half the event), examples include:

Mr. LMU
Relay for Life
Any other SAAC special event in which teams with less than 11 members must have 90% in attendance, teams with 12-25 members must have 75% in attendance in 1 event, teams with more than 25 members must have 60% attendance in 1 event
35 points per team for each SAAC event sponsored event attended (and must stay at least half the event), examples include:

Relay for Life
Any other SAAC special event in which teams with less than 11 members must have 60% in attendance, teams with 12-25 members must have 50% in attendance in 1 event, teams with more than 25 members must have 40% attendance in 1 event
7 points per team for more than 3 student-athletes who attend a SAAC meeting
5 points per team for 2 student-athletes who attend a SAAC meeting
2 points per team for 1 student-athlete who attends a SAAC meeting
*This does not include SAAC E-Board members.
ABOVE AND BEYOND
75 points per team that wins the Booling Trophy, has the a team member win Mr. LMU, raises the most money (amongst the varsity athletic teams) at Relay for Life, etc (things could be added on a year-by-year basis)
50 points per team, per team member that is awarded a campus-wide Academic or SSLA (Scholar, School, Program, Ignation, Marion, etc) honor
40 points per team when the team or an individual is recognized by their conference for sportsmanship
30 points per team, per team member that is awarded a Presidential Citation or SSLA Leadership Award
15 points per team, per team member that is elected to leadership position in a campus-wide club or organization
*Additional points can be awarded at the discretion of the SAAC Advisor
