The LMU men's and women's rowing teams competed in a pair of events Sunday at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival, and saw marked improvement across the board in what served as their final competition until February.

Katelin Snyder enters her second season as an assistant coach with LMU rowing. Snyder was Head Coach Vaclav Kacir's second official hire in August of 2011.

"I am very exited about Katelin joining our staff," Kacir said. "Katelin brings a tremendous amount of experience to the LMU Rowing program given that she has worked with some of the best coaches and athletes in the world. Our student-athletes will greatly benefit from Katelin's experiences and knowledge of the sport."

Competing with the US National Rowing Team, Snyder earned Gold Medals at the 2009 FISA World Rowing Championships and the 2010 FISA Rowing World Cup. Prior to joining the US National Team, she competed for the National U23 team, winning Gold in 2006 and 2008, and a Bronze in 2007.

In her first season with the Varsity 8 squad, Snyder garnered All-Pac-10 Conference honors. A Pac-10 All-Academic selection throughout college, she garnered a pair of Seattle PI Sports Star of the Year awards in 2007 and 2009.

"I could not be more excited about joining the LMU rowing staff and helping to build the culture of success at the LMU boathouse," Snyder said. "We have the tools necessary to realize our goals, and I can't wait to start developing the student-athletes and our team."

Snyder earned her degree in history from the University of Washington in 2009.
