V8+ and 2V8+ go 3-0 at NorCal/SoCal Challenge
Women's rowing earned head-to-head wins over Saint Mary's, San Diego State and UC Davis.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - LMU's varsity eight and second varsity eight boats both went 3-0 in a trio of head-to-head races Saturday and Sunday at the NorCal/SoCal Challenge in Redwood City.
The Lions swept Saint Mary's, San Diego State and UC Davis in both events. The varsity four, meanwhile, showed steady improvement over the weekend, improving its time in each race.
The varsity eight opened the weekend with a two second win over Saint Mary's, finishing the 2,000-meter course in 6:59.6 - a weekend best for LMU. The Lions' winning time against the Aztecs was 7:08.8, good for a nearly six second spread. In their final race on Sunday, LMU crossed in 7:04.8 while UC Davis finished in 7:07.3.
The second varsity eight pulled away from Saint Mary's in an eight-second victory, crossing the finish line in 7:34.3. Their winning time against San Diego State was 7:25.8 before beating UC Davis by more than 20 seconds, crossing in 7:20.8.
The varsity four earned a weekend-best time of 8:32.3 in their race over the Aggies.
The Lions return to their home course at Ballona Creek in Marina del Rey next week, hosting Santa Clara on Saturday, April 21.
