Marina del Rey, CA (April 26) - The Loyola Marymount University women's rowing team defeated SMU in a Varsity Eight dual meet at Ballona Creek on Saturday morning.

Rowing in a slight chop with the current going the direction of the race, the Lions finished in a time of 7:13. SMU came in nine seconds later in the 2000-meter race.

The Lions' Varsity Eight was comprised of Lineups Caitlin McClain, Malin Gustavsson, Vanessa Glendenning, Angela Tanner, Lot Keijzer, Gemma Gaudio, Beth Henderson, Erin Ludwig and coxswain Blake Boyer.

Also competing was the Lions' Second Varsity Eight against USC. The Trojans defeated the Lions with a time of 7:11.

The Lions will compete in the West Coast Conference Championships this Friday at Lake Natoma in Sacramento.
