Men's N4+ Takes Gold at WIRA's, Women's V4+ Earns Bronze
A trio of Lion crews medalled Sunday at the 2013 WIRA Championships including the men's N4+, men's LTWT N4+ and women's V4+.

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. - All seven competing LMU men's and women's crews raced in their respective Grand Finals Sunday at the 2013 Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship. Medalling Lion crews included the men's novice 4+, men's lightweight novice 4+ and women's varsity 4+.
The Lion men's novice 4+ had a superb weekend of rowing, taking first in its preliminary heat on Saturday in a time of 7:05.9 before claiming gold in Sunday's Grand Final in 6:52.4. LMU held off stiff competition from Orange Coast College, which placed second in 6:53.7. San Diego placed third in 7:00.2, Pacific Lutheran was fourth (7:05.8), Lewis & Clark was fifth (7:07.9) and Cal Maritime was sixth (7:20.9).
The men's lightweight novice 4+ earned bronze with a time of 7:34.5 and just seconds off silver medalist Orange Coast College (7:31.1).
In the women's varsity 4+, LMU earned the bronze medal with a time of 8:11.6. West Coast Conference rival Gonzaga took gold in 7:36.4 and San Diego State was the silver medalist in 8:11.0.
The LMU women's varsity 8+ and junior varsity 8+ each placed fourth in their respective Grand Finals Sunday.
LMU's varsity 4+ men's crew also won its prelim head (6:50.9) on Saturday, before placing fourth in their Grand Final Sunday, finishing in a time of 6:52.1.
The Lion women will be back at it in two weeks, traveling back to Lake Natoma in Rancho Cordova, Calif., for the 2013 WCC Championship on May 18.
