CRCA NATIONAL SCHOLAR-ATHLETES

Eight LMU women's rowers were named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes, the association announced Tuesday. P.K. Carey-Jones (Spanish) earned recognition for the third straight year, while Callie Aaker (Civil Engineering) and Kelsey Dunbar (Biology) were lauded for the second straight season. Ashley Brown (Biology), Kelsey Burrell (English), Janna Forney (Film and TV Production), Ryanne Haymer (Classical Civilizations) and Monica Weaser (Mechanical Engineering) also earned a spot on the 2014 list.

Criteria for selected student-athletes included being in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility, carry a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher and rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event.

The Lions have continued to increase their exposure on the list over the last three years, as Carey-Jones was the lone representative in 2012 before LMU placed four on the list last season.

LMU, guided by third-year head coach Dr. Vaclav Kacir, recently finished fifth at the 2014 West Coast Conference Rowing Championship.
