Michael Vorgitch set a school record in the 3,000m steeplechase, Sheree Shea won the women's 5,000m and every competing Lion achieved either a season or career best Friday at the Occidental Distance Carnival.

WCC Foes Battle in Orinda

LMU, Santa Clara, San Francisco and the Gaels will meet at the West Coast Quadrangular and Relays hosted by Saint Mary's this weekend.

Briefly... Michael Vorgitch is in his second season with LMU Cross Country and Track & Field...

At LMU... 2011-12... in cross-country, ran personal and season-best of 25:37 in 8k at Stanford Invitational... ran personal and season-best of 34:29 at NCAA DI West Championships...came in 12th with a time of 25:43.6 at UC Riverside Invitational... on the track, recorded a personal-best time in the 5000m at the Ben Brown Invite, recording a 15:28.93 for 12th overall... recorded a PR in the 1500m with a 4:08.40 at the Oxy Distance Carnival...

High School... graduated from Simi Valley High School... earned eight varsity letters in 4 years of running cross country and track running for Coach Kurt Mjoen... 2-time All-Ventura County in cross country... named to All-Marmonte League 3 times (1 in cross country, 2 in track)... 2007-2008 Freshman of the Year in both cross country and track.... 2008 Coaches' Award CIF Southern Section recipient... 2009 Most Valuable Runner for cross country... 2010 team MVP in cross country... named Most Improved in track... 2010 team MVP in track... 2011 Marmonte League 3200m champion...

Personal... Michael Joseph Ryan Vorgitch was born on April 11, 1993 in West Hills, CA to parents Kimberly and Thomas Vorgitch... he has three sisters: Danica, who graduated from LMU in 2009, Allison who attends CSU Channel Islands, and Madelyn who also runs cross-country and track at Simi Valley High School... he chose LMU for the beauty of the campus, great people, and great facilities... a business major.
