In cross country... competed in five meets... lowered both her 5k and 6k personal best times... raced to a career-best 17:51.35 not he 5k course at the Vanguard Invitational... placed 41st at the West Coast Conference Championships in a 6k personal best time of 21:43.0... competed in her first NCAA West Region Championship, finishing in a time of 23:36.8... In track... best times were 4:45.56 in the 1,500m at the Cal State LA Invitational (Mar. 7), 10:15.90 in the 3,000m at the West Coast Quadrangular (Feb. 21) and 17:43.55 in the 5,000m at the Ben Brown Invitational (Mar. 14)... times in the 3k and 5k were new career lows...

In cross country... ran a 6k season best 23:06.84 at the West Coast Conference Preview Meet... 5k season best 18:19.9 at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational... competed in four total meets... Samantha Garcia was born October 22, 1994 in San Jose, CA to parents Grace Soto and Luis Garcia... volunteered with San Jose Family Supportive Housing, Silicon Valley Rebuilding, St. Francis of Assisi church, Vintage Senior Home, Hersey's Citywide Youth Track Meet, Creekside Cabana Club, and as a junior high and elementary school tutor... considered the University of the Pacific and San Francisco State before choosing LMU... chose LMU because it "will allow me to receive a quality education in a safe and secure environment," allow her to remain connected with her religion, continue her running career while studying a degree that will enable her to reach her goal of becoming a doctor, and the "pristine and jaw dropping gorgeous" campus... a biochemistry major...
