Jason Zarb-Cousin is in his third season as an assistant coach in the LMU cross country program. As a member of the United States Air Force, Zarb-Cousin will work with the Lions while stationed at Los Angeles Air Force Base.
Zarb-Cousin, who ran cross country and indoor/outdoor track for the Air Force Academy from 1995-1999, has spent the past four seasons coaching high school cross country and track at Fort Collins High School in Colorado. Most recently, he worked with the nationally ranked boys' cross country team, which won the 2004 5A state title.
During his tenure at Fort Collins, the boys' and girls' teams have finished in the top three at the state championships on four occasions and finished no worse than seventh. In track, the boys' 4x800 meter relay team won the 2005 State Championship in a school record time, eclipsing the old record by nearly ten seconds. On the girls' side, the 4x800 meter relay teams were runner-ups in the 2003 and 2004 5A Colorado State Championships, establishing school records each year.
Zarb-Cousin finished his degree in basic sciences from the Air Force Academy in 1999 and obtained a Master's Degree in Physical Education/Kinesiology from the University of Northern Colorado. He completed his USA Track and Field certification and was an official at the 2005 NCAA Track and Field Championships.
