LOS ANGELES, Calif. - LMU's Tara Erdmann became the first LMU athlete to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track National Championship in the 3000m event earlier today. Erdmann finished third at the University of Washington Last Chance Qualifier in Seattle, Wash. in 9:12 to qualify for the Indoor National Championship. Erdmann had run 9:18 at the Husky Invite Classic earlier in February and then raced again today and improved her time to qualify for nationals.
Today Erdmann placed 3rd behind Katie Floods and Megan Goethals of Washington with less than a five second spread separating the one through five finishers. Erdmann finished in front of Marcy Stephanie and Jessica Tonn of Stanford running 9:12.25 which is just under the automatic qualifying time of 9:13. With this performance, Erdmann will now race at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday March 11th at College Station, Texas.
