Track Improves on Records at UC Irvine
Lions improve their records at UC Irvine Spring Break Invitational.

The LMU Track team continued to set personal bests and all-time records at the UC Irvine Invitational today. The Lions saw a win in the 3000m from freshman Drew Dalton, and the first collegiate runner to finish in the women's 3000m from Sheree Shea. Throughout the day, the Lions continued to record some of the fastest times they have all season.
In the women's 1500m, the women were led by senior Cynthia Chaidez who finished the 1500meter distance in 4:43.96 finishing 4th overall. Chaidez was only one second off her all-time best with this performance. Next for the Lions, senior Shea Franklin finished in 4:55 placing 14th overall. This was a huge personal best for Franklin by over ten seconds. Finally in the 1500m, freshman Laura Delgado finished in 5:11 for a season best.
In the women's 3000m the Lions were led by Sheree Shea who came from the back of the pack to place second overall and the first collegiate woman to finish in 9:37.96. Next for the Lions, a strong pack of four, Brieanna Delaney, Jessica Mumaugh, Caroline Draper and Brittnie Munoz all crossed the line within ten seconds. Brieanna Delaney set a personal best in 10:06.34, with Jessica Mumaugh close in step with a 10:06.50 which is a personal best as well. Sophomore Caroline Draper also improved her 10:29 season best to 10:13.28 for an all-time best. Freshman Brittnie Munoz improved on her previous 3k with a 10:16.89 and a 16th place finish. Finally Stephanie Felix ran 11:15 placing 26th overall.
In the men's 1500meter race, Greg Innes and Sterling Lockert led the Lions in step finishing 3:57.3 and 3:57.46 respectively. Innes and Lockert placed 5th and 6th in the race and are only one second off LMU's top three all time 1500m times. Oran Arms finished 10th overall in 4:00 flat. Tyre Johnson was close behind in 4:08 finishing 14th overall. In the second heat, Mike Evans led the Lions with an eight place finish in 4:08 with teammate Philip Benavides in 4:10. Senior Scott Donahue finished eleventh overall in the same heat with 4:12 overall. Freshman Dan Smith came in next for the Lions in 4:14 and Michael Herrera finished in 4:17 overall. Finally for the Lions RJ Larrieu finished in 4:24 and Matthew Duncan finished in 4:31. Both Oran Arms and Matthew Duncan also competed in the 800m race. Arms finished in 1:56 overall is only one second off his personal best, while Duncan finished in 2:07.
In the men's 3000m freshman Drew Dalton led the Lions with a new school record of 8:24 for the 3k. Dalton won the race from the start and didn't look back to win the race, setting a new school 3k record as just a freshman. Freshman teammate Kevin Joerger finished close behind in 8:36 for a personal best as well, a time that stands fifth all-time at LMU. Freshman Henry Jordan also set a personal best of 8:58 improving by over seven seconds. Finally Michael Carlone competed in the 3000m steeple chase for the Lions running 10:34 just off his overall personal best.
Next up for the Lions, LMU will compete in the Stanford Invitational and the Cal-Nevada Championships on March 25th and 26th.
