Parsons Wins 3k in PR Time
Record performances by Kelly Parsons and Daniel Gibson paced LMU at the UCI Spring Break Invite.
IRVINE, Calif. - Junior Kelly Parsons won the 3,000m run in personal record time and senior Daniel Gibson placed in the 1,500m top-10 to pace a small contingent of LMU men's and women's track athletes competing at the UC Irvine Spring Break Collegiate Invitational Saturday.
Parsons took the 3,000m title in 10:41.61, trimming more than seven seconds off her previous low time, set earlier this season at the West Coast Quadrangular. Freshman Jillian Dawley also competed in the race, finishing fourth in 11:34.62.
Gibson was one of five Lion men racing in the 1,500m Saturday. The senior took eighth overall in 3:56.14, which trimmed more than five seconds off his previous best time of 4:01.26 achieved just two weeks at the Cal State L.A. Invitational.
A full squad of Lions will return to action next week, traveling to San Diego to take part in the San Diego State Aztec Invitational on March 27-28.
