PRs Plentiful at UCI Spring Break Invite
The LMU men's and women's track teams posted numerous career and season best marks at the Spring Break Collegiate Invitational hosted by UC Irvine.

IRVINE, Calif. - The LMU men's and women's track teams posted numerous career and season best marks at the Spring Break Collegiate Invitational hosted by UC Irvine.
On the women's side, senior Sheree Shea clinched the 3,000 meter run title in a season-best time of 9:43.77. She also had seven fellow Lions race their way to career-best marks in the race as LMU posted three of the top-5 and seven of the top-15 finishers in the race.
Senior Cassandra Salazar led that field, placing second overall with her first collegiate sub-10-minute performance (9:53.86). Also getting into the 3,000m record-setting mix was freshman Kelli Sugimoto who placed fourth overall in a career best 9:57.91. Not only was it her first time under 10 minutes but she also set the LMU freshman record in the 3000m and becomes the first LMU freshman to run under the 10-minute mark.
In the women's 1,500 meter run, senior Callie Mulgannon was the top collegiate finisher, and second overall, in a season-best time of 4:31.93. She was joined by classmate Sarah Vitug who placed fourth overall (third collegiate finisher) in a career-best time of 4:32.73.
On the men's side, senior Michael Carlone shaved 36 seconds off his previous best mark on his way to a career-best 15:44.01 finish in the 5,000 meter run.
The Lions also posted five career bests and two season bests as they placed six in the top -15 finishers in the 3,000 meter run. Junior Weston Strum placed second overall in a season-best 8:20.35 while classmate Drew Dalton was third in a season-best 8:28.09. Kevin Joerger was fifth in 8:30.59 while Michael Vorgitch was seventh in a career-best time of 8:31.83.
