Seven Lions Record PRs
The LMU squads competed at the Stanford Invitational and the California Collegiate Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego.
SAN DIEGO - Seven Lions set personal records over the Easter weekend as the squads competed at the Stanford Invitational and the California Collegiate Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego.
Four Lion women made the trip to the prestigious meet at Stanford's Cobb Track and Angell Field on Friday. Sophomore Danielle Shanahan led the way for the quartet, placing third in her 5,000m section in 16:12.54. That mark trimmed seven seconds off her previous personal record and sets an LMU sophomore all-time record.
On Saturday at UCSD, Lorena Garcia, Madelyn Vorgitch and Alexandra Young set PRs on the women's side while freshmen men Harry Loasby, Christopher Fredlund and Mitchell Cameron set new lows on the men's side.
Garcia placed 10th overall in the 1,500m in 4:51.40. Vorgitch, a freshman, ran her first sub-five minute 1,500m, finishing 13th in 4:56.04. Young rounded out the Lion women with personal low times, placing 13th overall in the 5,000m in 18:57.49.
Loasby lowered his Hong Kong Junior Nationals record in the 1,500m with a new PR of 3:57.86, good for sixth place in Saturday's race. Fredlund placed seventh in 3:58.47 and Cameron was 18th in 4:13.59.
LMU track teams return to action in two weeks, splitting up once again to compete in the Mt. SAC Invitational on April 16-17 and the Long Beach Invitational on April 18.
