LMU Handles UCLA Invitational
Tara Erdmann wins women's 1500 meters.

Westwood, Calif. - After competing in the Cal-Nevada Championships last weekend, Loyola Marymount Men and Women's Track returned to Westwood to compete in the UCLA Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
The highlight of the meet came in women's 1500 meters race. Once again sophomore Tara Erdmann outpaced the pack with a first place finish. Erdmann won the event with a season best 4:29.86. Megan Fairley (4:40.79), Cynthia Chaidez (4:46.61), Cassandra Salazar (4:47.13), and Brooke Lademan (4:49.72) followed behind with sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth place finishes. Rounding out the pack for LMU was Brieanna Delaney, Marissa Diehl, and Kylie Hunsaker. Delaney (4:53.07), Diehl (4:55.00), and Hunsaker (5:00.05) completed the event in 15th, 16th, and 17th place respectively. Salazar, Delaney, Fairley, Lademan, and Diehl also ran new personal best times.
Senior Abby Fall led LMU in the women's 5000 meters. Fall finished in third place overall with a time of 17:58.56. Kelly McEnerney (19.26.76) and Shea Franklin (19:46.40) were the other LMU participants in the event. McEnerney ran her personal best to finish in sixth place overall while Franklin finished right behind in seventh place.
On the men's side LMU's best finish also came in the 1500 meters. Trevor Wiseman had the best finish for the Lions. Wiseman finished in sixth place with a time of 4:00.65. Senior Lino Almeida finished right behind him with personal best (4:01.37) for seventh place overall. Freshman Phillip Benavides was the third LMU athlete to complete the race. Benavides also finished with a personal best (4:02.90) for tenth overall. Connor Pastoor (4:05.83) and Brian McDonald (4:06.05) rounded out the times for LMU. Pastoor came in 13th place while McDonald finished with another personal best in 14th.
Oran Arms was the only Lion to compete in the 800 meters. Arms finished in 1:58.72 for 14th place overall.
Loyola Marymount Track team will not be in action next week. The Lions will compete in the Azusa Pacific Invitational and Mt. Sac invitational on April 17.
