Erdmann Qualifies for NCAA Regional at Stanford Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Freshman Tara Erdmann qualified for the NCAA West Regional on Saturday with a time of 16:47.45 in the 5000 meter run, racing in the fourth section at the 2008 Stanford Invitational which was held over the weekend at Stanford University. Erdmann's fourth-place time in her section bested the Regional qualifying time of 16:52. The top-five runners at the West Regional will advance to the National stage.

Seniors Laura Mickelson (section two) and Brittany Rezowalli (section five), along with junior Abby Fall (section four) also raced in the 5000 meter. Mickelson finished 18th in her section with a time of 17:01.66, while Fall ran valiantly before crossing in 17:37.22 to take 20th in her section. Rezowalli placed 12th in the fourth section, posting a time of 17:32.89.

Sophomore Keyon Mitchell participated in the long jump on the men's side for the Lions. Mitchell posted a mark of 6.78 meters (22'3") to claim second in the "B" section. Mitchell was back at it again in the triple jump, leaping 14.03 meters (46'.50") to claim fifth in the "B" section of that event.

LMU will return to action when it heads to Westwood, Calif. to partake in the UCLA Invitational on April 11 and 12.
