LMU Finishes Competition at UCLA Invitational

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - LMU completed another weekend of competition on Friday and Saturday, participating at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational at Drake Stadium on the campus of UCLA.

The Lions' best finish came in the men's 5000 meters, where junior Trevor Wiseman took home fourth overall with a time of 14:47.71. Sophomores Cameron Pagett and Brian McDonald followed in 15:10.16 and 15:10.75 to claim 14th and 15th, respectively. Scott Donahue (15:25.33), Sean Sisk (15:38.52) and Lino Almeida (16:13.71) rounded-out the field of Lions in the event, finishing 18th, 21st and 28th, in that order.

Junior Adam Stebbins competed in the 200 meters and crossed the line in 22.94 to finish 28th overall. Stebbins was back on the track in the 400 meters, as he claimed 32nd in 50.31.

Sophomore Paul Beckwith and senior Mo Elmi were the only two LMU runners in the 1500 meters, taking 26th and 29th places overall. Beckwith crossed the line in 4:12.32, while Elmi turned in a mark of 4:15.81.

Freshman Matt Duncan competed in the 400 meter hurdles, placing 27th in 59.16. Fellow freshman Connor Pastoor took an eighth-place finish in the 3k steeplechase after finishing the race in 10:20.88.

On the women's side, sophomore Megan Lynch claimed a 36th-place finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:02.30. Gabrielle Hybki and Chelsea Wirschem competed in the high jump and triple jump, respectively, for the Lions. Hybki turned in a time of 4'11" to take sixth place, while Wirschem jumped 36'0.25" for 11th overall.

The Lions placed four runners in the 5000 meters, with the four finishing 14th-17th. Sophomore Brooke Lademan paced the pack of Lions, taking 14th in 18:59.72. Freshman Brenn Donnelly took 15th in 19:11.88, followed by junior Ahnie Draper (19:24.51) and freshman Shea Franklin (20:09.58) to conclude the group.

LMU will return to action when it heads to the Mount San Antonio College Invitational/Relays on Friday and Saturday in Walnut, Calif.
