Track has Another Weekend of Records
The LMU Track team recorded yet another weekend of successful performances at the Mt.Sac Invitational and the Long Beach State Invitational

The Lions had yet another successful weekend on the track. To start of the weekend, LMU sent three athletes to the prestigious Mt. Sac Invitational in Walnut, Calif. where the Lions were highlighted by top performance from Sheree Shea, Tara Erdmann and Tyre Johnson. Next the majority of the Track team went to Cerritos, where they competed in the Long Beach Invitational. The Lions had good performances across the board from freshmen Alyssa Bellia, Weston Strum, Drew Dalton and Kevin Joerger as well as returners Brieanna Delaney and Caroline Draper.
Tara Erdmann continued to lead the Lions with a top performance in the pro/elite heat of the 5k at the Mt. Sac Invitational. Erdmann placed 18th against some of the top pro and collegiate runners in the nation with a time of 15:54 for the 5k distance. This performance is not only another school record but also a personal best by just over a second. Sheree Shea also had a stellar weekend at Mt. Sac running her first 10k on the track. Shea placed 6th in the women's 10k race in 34:02 for a great 10k debut and a time that will be most likely be in the top 35 nationally. The LMU men were represented by sophomore Tyre Johnson at the Mt.Sac Invite. Johnson also ran the 10k race finishing in 30:42 to record a personal best and clock a new school record for the men.
At Long Beach, the Lions were led by freshmen Weston Strum, Drew Dalton, and Kevin Joerger. Both Strum and Dalton turned in solid performances in the 1500m easily breaking four minutes in 3:53 and 3:54 respectively. These times are both personal bests for Strum and Dalton by over four seconds and are top five all-time at LMU for the 1500m distance. Also in the 1500m, sophomores Sterling Lockert turned in 4:03 and Greg Innes in 4:05 for the Lions. Freshman Dan Smith recorded a big personal best by over two seconds finishing in 4:12. Michael Carlone clocked 4:15 along with Mike Evans who finished in 4:15 as well. Senior Michael Herrera finished in 4:18, RJ Larrieu in 4:22, and Scott Donahue in 4:33.
Freshman Kevin Joerger led the Lions in the 5k race breaking fifteen minutes in 14:54. This is a personal best for Joerger by over five seconds and stands in the top-ten all-time at LMU. Also in the 5k race, senior Connor Pastoor recorded a 15:54 and freshman Henry Jordan ran 16:37. Finally for the men, Oran Arms competed in the 800m race, running 1:57 just one second off his personal best from last season.
In the women's 1500m the Lions were led by Alyssa Bellia and Cynthia Chaidez. Freshman Alyssa Bellia had a breakout race finishing the 1500m in 4:53. Cynthia Chaidez also recorded 4:53 for a strong performance while freshmen Kelly Shogren broke five minutes finishing only one second off her personal best in 4:59. Laura Delgado finished in 5:09 while Jillian Jaccard finished in 5:26.
In the women's 5k the Lions were led by both Brieanna Delaney and Caroline Draper who each recorded personal bests. Brieanna Delaney placed third overall finishing in 17:17 breaking her previous personal best of 17:30. Caroline Draper also recorded a significant ten-second personal best placing fifth in 17:35. Both of these performances are top ten all-time at LMU. Sophomore teammate Jessica Mumaugh followed close in tow in 17:45 finishing thirteenth overall and freshman Brittnie Munoz also had a top twenty-five finish in 18:13.
Next up the Lions will travel to San Diego for the UCSD Invitational on April 23rd.
