Big Weekend of Results at Mt. SAC and Beach Invitational
Nine total personal records were achieved by LMU at Mt. SAC and the Beach Invitational.

LOS ANGELES Success continued this past weekend for the LMU men's and women's track teams which split up to compete at the Mt. SAC Invitational in Walnut, Calif., and at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach.
As the outdoor season hits its stride, the Lions continue to show marked improvement week after week, including, most recently, nine personal records. In addition, in competition through April 20, 11 Lions rank in the top 51 on the 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor West Region qualifying list - including six marks set at Mt. SAC.
Six Lions on the women's side recorded personal best times this past weekend, while four achieved times ranking in the top 51 in the West Region. At Mt. SAC, Kyra Burke trimmed nearly 15 seconds off her previous low in the 3,000m steeplechase and now ranks 51st with a time of 10:46.22. Kelly Parsons also turned in a career best time in the 3,000m steeple, finishing in 11:45.98 at the Beach Invitational.
Sheree Shea raced to a 33:55.73 finish in the 10k at Mt. SAC, just shy of her all-time best of 33:53.54 and good enough to rank No. 12 in the West Region. In the same race, Grace Graham-Zamudio cut nearly two-and-a-half minutes off her previous best time, finishing in 34:56.26 - a time that currently ranks No. 40.
Kelli Sugimoto rounded out the Lion women to achieve top 51 times, turning in a personal record 16:36.53 in the 5k at Mt. SAC, good for No. 51.
On the men's side, Michael Vorgitch, Daniel Gibson and Ryan Vargas recorded PRs while Vorgitch and Kevin Joerger join Weston Strum (10th in the 5k, 11th in the 1,500m) as Lion males ranking in the West's top 56.
Vorgitch posted a PR 9:08.29 in the 3,000m steeplechase at Mt. SAC, good for 56th in the West Region. Joerger's 29:40.85 finish in the 10k at Mt. SAC ranks No. 42 in the West and was just shy of his all-time best 29:38.26.
Gibson turned in his first career sub-15 minute 5k at the Beach Invitational, finishing in 14:50.90 while Vargas' 4:03.21 in the 1,500m was also a personal record for the sophomore.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the top 48 qualifiers in each event will advance to the NCAA DI Outdoor Regionals.
LMU continues competition on April 25-26 at the UCSD Triton Invitational.
