Records Broken During Busy Weekend for Track
Michael Carlone sets new school record in 3k steeplechase, Weston Strum, running unattached, sets two PRs during one day.

LOS ANGELES -- The Lions had a busy weekend on the track running in two events over three days. LMU participated in the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. and the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State, breaking records in both events. Michael Carlone ran a school record in the 3k steeplechase at the Beach Invitational. Weston Strum, running unattached, had a great day at the Beach Invitational finishing in the top three in two races.
This past Thursday at the Mt. SAC Relays, Brieanna Delaney finished 22nd overall in the women’s 10,000 meters with a time of 36.20.38. Close behind her was Caroline Draper who finished in 36:31.90 for 24th.
On Friday, sophomore standout Drew Dalton ran a time of 14:46.05 in the men’s 5000 meters for 25th overall.
Saturday saw the Lions at the Beach Invitational held in Norwalk, Calif. In the 800 meters, Weston Strum took 3rd place running the distance in 1:50.53 and setting a new personal record. Senior Oran Arms had a time of 1:56.66, his best this season, for 80th.
In the 1500 meters, Weston Strum continued his great performance for the day with a second-place finish and a time of 3:48.56 for his second PR of the day. Dan Smith ran a 4:11.39, a season best, for 98th. Mike Evans was close behind finishing in 4:12.89. Henry Jordan finished 107th, crossing the finish line at 4:23.85. Jonathan Miller recorded a time of 4:24.71.
Carlone finished the men’s 3k steeplechase in 9:46.08, a new personal record by 16 seconds, for 18th overall. Andres Lopez came in 22nd with a time of 10:32.26
Laura Delgado recorded a 21st-place finish in the women’s 3k steeplechase with a time of 12:02.56.
The women’s 1500 meters saw Kelly Shogren finish the race with a time of 4:52.13, a PR for her, for 72nd. Alyssa Bellia ran a 4:57.48, a season-best, for 84th. Michelle Hickerson had a time of 4:59.97, which placed her 88th. Jessica Mumaugh recorded her season-best time of 5:01.28 for 90th.
Next up for the Lions is the UCSD Triton Invitational, which will be held Friday and Saturday, April 27-28.
