Shanahan, de Bondt Lead Lions
Danielle Shanahan and Kayla de Bondt finished one-two in the 1,500m run Saturday.
Shanahan won her heat and was the overall individual winner in a personal record time of 4:24.86. de Bondt was just behind, placing second in 4:26.65. Kelli Sugimoto took fourth in a PR time of 4:29.05 to give the Lions three of the top four finishers.
Lorena Garcia also finished in personal record time, crossing the finish line in 4:48.42.
de Bondt and Shanahan doubled up on the day, also both running the 800m. de Bondt took sixth overall in a PR time of 2:12.47. Shanahan finished 11 and trimmed .04 seconds off her personal best, finishing in 2:15.20.
Brandon Vientos was the top finisher for the LMU men in the 1,500m, placing 10th overall in 3:59.63. Rookie Mat Holton was the lone Lion to set a PR time, trimming four seconds off his best time for a 4:14.06 finish.
Five Lion men raced in the 800m, three for the first time this season. Freshman Nicolas Wells was the top finisher in 1:59.29. Classmate Waseem Radi also finished in sub-two-minute time (1:59.50).
Next up for LMU is the Steve Scott Invitational on May 1-2 as well as the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational on May 2.
