Lion Runners Continue to Improve
Davis has a Strong Debut in 5K and Four Others Run Career Bests

The Lions ran a limited squad at the UCSD Triton Invitational. In the 1,500 meters, sophomore Emily Hubert had a career best by nearly three seconds running 4:42.31 and winning her section. Hubert's time ties her for 20th on the LMU Top-20 All-Time list. Junior Maddi Vorgitch also ran a career best of 4:50.11, improving her time by less than a second. On the men's side, freshman Jacob Heink ran a personal best of 4:16.84.
In the 5,000 meters, senior Grant Lapovich led the Lions with a time of 14:56.77 which was just 0.08 seconds short of a career best. Lapovich placed eighth overall in the event. In his 5000m debut, freshman Ben Davis just missed breaking the 15-minute barrier, running a 15:03.33. Davis’ time is the eleventh (11th) fastest freshman in LMU history and it is the tenth (10th) fastest 5,000 meter debut for a Lion in history. Junior Harry Loasby ran a career best of 15:19.37, bettering his previous best by three seconds. Joey Rodgers was the fourth Lion finisher in the event, recording a time of 15:39.37 which was good enough for second overall in his heat.
Next Friday and Saturday, the Lions will run at the Steve Scott Adidas Invitational at UC Irvine.
