Lions Close Action at UCSD Triton Invitational

Triton Invitational Results Get Acrobat Reader

The LMU track and field team recently completed competition at the UCSD Triton Invitational, taking part in various events on Saturday. Friday's day one of the two-day Triton Invitational featured only field events in which LMU did not participate.

On Saturday, Megan Lynch claimed 28th overall in the 1500 meter run, turning in a time of 5:01.43. Brooke Lademan and Brenn Donnelly also competed in the race, claiming 33rd and 42nd, in 5:04.88 and 5:20.53, respectively.

The Lions put two runners in the nine-runner 5000 meter field, with Brittany Rezowalli taking second place in 17:45.28. Ahnie Draper beat Central Arizona's Danielle Higgins by one minute in the race, earning eighth in 20:17.60.

Chelsea Wirschem was the only Lion participant in the triple jump, claiming seventh overall with a leap of 10.15 meters.

On the men's side, Julius Jones competed in the 100 meter dash, taking 44th in 12.20. The Lions put a handful of runners in the 1500 meter run, with Cameron Pagett leading the pack of Lions with a 22nd-place finish. Pagett crossed the line in 4:03.81, followed by Mo Elmi (38th, 4:15.21), Paul Beckwith (39th, 4:17.25) and Michael Herrera (40th, 4:17.27).

Trevor Wiseman and Brian McDonald finished ninth and 10th in the 5000 meter run, turning in times of 15:25.86 and 15:27.90, respectively. Competing in the 400 meter hurdles, Matt Duncan took 12th overall with a time of 57.77.

Keyon Mitchell was the lone representative in both the men's long jump and triple jump, putting up a mark of 6.62 meters en route to ninth place in the long jump competition. Mitchell posted a jump of 14.39 in the triple jump, good for seventh overall.

LMU will return to action on Saturday when it travels to Irvine, Calif. to partake in the Steve Scott Invite.
