IRVINE, Calif. - Danielle Shanahan was the top collegiate finisher in her heat of the 5,000m run at the prestigious Payton Jordan Invitational and Michael Duncan turned in a huge personal record finish in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Steve Scott Invitational to highlight another solid weekend of action by the LMU men's and women's track teams.

Shanahan, the only Lion to qualify for a spot in Stanford's Payton Jordan Invite, posted a personal best 16:08.82 in the 5k, placing third in her section Saturday night. That mark trimmed nearly four seconds off her previous career low, set last month at the Stanford Invitational.

In Irvine, Duncan led the way for the group of Lions competing at the Steve Scott Invitational on Friday and Saturday nights. The junior wiped 14 seconds off his previous career best in the 3,000m steeplechase, placing fourth overall in 9:11.02. Fellow Lion Michael Vorgitch also competed in the race, placing 10th in 9:26.11.

Also earning PR finishes at the Steve Scott Invite were Derek Weber, with a 16:39.22 finish in the men's 5k, and Waseem Radi with a 4:05.19 finish in the 1,500m.

Just two Lion women raced in Irvine, but both achieved personal best times. Grace Graham-Zamudio placed fourth overall in the women's 1,500m, finishing in 4:27.57 while Alexandra Young posted a personal record 18:44.85 in the 5k.

Two meets remain on LMU's regular season schedule including the Occidental College Invitational on Saturday, May 9 and the Portland Twilight on Sunday, May 17. The NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field West Regionals will be contested on May 28-30 in Austin, Texas.
