Track Season Begins in Team Fashion
The Lion men and women open the 2015 outdoor season at the West Coast Quadrangular and West Coast Relays.
LOS ANGELES - The 2015 outdoor track season kicks off in true team form this weekend as the LMU men's and women's squads head to Orinda, Calif., for the West Coast Quadrangular and West Coast Relays held at Miramonte High School on Saturday, Feb. 21 and Sunday, Feb. 22.
All individuals from both squads will race in the 3,000m run on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, the Lions will compete in teams of four in the distance medley relay (consisting of a 1,200m, 400m, 800m and 1,600m).
Looking to start spring off on a fast note, LMU will seek to break school records in the DMR on both the men's and women's sides - records that were set just one year ago. In 2014, the team of Danielle Shanahan, Chloe Curtis, Lyndsey Mull and Grace Graham-Zamudio finished in an LMU record time of 12:00.95. On the men's side it was John Pickhaver, Logan Fulton, Kevin Joerger and Weston Strum who finished in a combined 10:09.5.
Current school records in the 3,000m belong to Drew Dalton (2012, 8:13.29) on the men's side and Tara Erdmann (2011, 9:36.00) on the women's side.
