Following an outstanding performance at the West Coast Challenge last Saturday in Malibu, Calif., the LMU track team will head to Walnut, Calif. to participate in the Ben Brown Invitational on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

At last week's unofficial conference championship, LMU dominated competition en route to setting six new Lion records. Scoring as a double-dual format, the Lion men defeated Pepperdine (58-19), USF (59-23) and Santa Clara (64-15). The women also easily handled their opponents, defeating Pepperdine (48-35), USD (71-5), USF (46-32) and Santa Clara (57-26).

LMU's individual winners at the West Coast Challenge included Katie Osborne (200 meter dash), Tara Erdmann (800 meter run, 1500 meter run), Jon Hornberger (100 meter dash), Adam Stebbins (200 meter dash, 400 meter dash), and Matt Duncan (110 meter hurdles, 400 meter hurdles).

The Ben Brown Invitational will have a new format in 2008. The Saturday portion of the meet (and the only portion that LMU will participate) will have three sessions. Session 1, taking place in the morning, will consist of sections for all individual running events excluding relays and long distance. Session two, in the afternoon, will have invitational sections for all individual running events and relays excluding long distance, and session three, taking place in the evening, will cover the distance events.

After taking part in the Ben Brown Invitational, LMU will head to Eagle Rock, Calif. to run in the Occidental Distance Carnival on Friday, March 14 at 6 p.m.
