LOS ANGELES The LMU men's and women's track teams are back in action this weekend, competing at the 2014 UCSD Triton Invitational in La Jolla. The majority of the Lion squad is taking a break from their normal events and will compete in mass in the 1,500m run on Saturday morning.
For the Lions who usually compete in the 5K, 10K and 3,000m steeplechase, this meet offers a change of pace and a lighter feel before heading into the final stretch of the season and chasing NCAA Regional qualifying marks.
THe LMU Sports Network sat down with redshirt senior Sheree Shea and sophomore Michael Vorgitch in advance of the meet on Saturday. For Shea, the Triton Invitational is a return home and the meet where she raced a career best time in the 1,500m as a sophomore. For Vorgitch, the LMU record-holder in the 3,000m steeplechase, its an opportunity to have a little fun and return to a distance he competed in quite often in high school.
