LMU Track travels to three competitive invitationals over this weekend
April 30, 2010
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The LMU track team will travel to Oregon, Irvine and Stanford this weekend to compete in some of the top track invitational's on the west coast. This weekend the LMU squad will split up to give each athlete the best possibility to set a personal best and hopefully make the qualifying mark for NCAA Regionals.
Senior Brian McDonald will travel up north to Oregon to run in a 10,000 meter race. McDonald has not run a 10k yet this season and hopefully the miles and training that he has put in will pay off with a regional qualifying time for the distance. Top lady lions, Junior Tara Erdmann and freshman Sheree Shea will travel to Palo Alto for the Payton Jordan Stanford Invitational where they will each run the 5000meter race. Shea has already run a 16:54 this season at the Cal/Nevada Championships and has hopes to qualify for west regionals. Erdmann who has been on fire this season shattered her own and the school record clocking a 15:55 for the 5k putting her as one of the top distance runners in the country.
Finally on Sunday Senior Daniel LaCava and Sophomore Erich Yanoschik will compete in the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, Calif. in the 1500meter race. LaCava has run a 3:53 so far this season with hopes to improve that time this weekend. Erich Yanoschik has run a 4:04 earlier at the Irvine Invitational.
