LOS ANGELES - Seven Lions will take one last shot at lowering their season best times before NCAA West Regional selection, traveling to compete in the Portland Twilight at Lewis and Clark College in Portland on Sunday.

For the men, Michael Vorgitch and Michael Duncan will race in the 3,000m steeplechase while Danny Gibson will compete in the 5,000m. Duncan's best time of 9:11.02 currently ranks 69th in the West Region while Vorgitch is 95th with a season best time of 9:16.99. Gibson is not ranked with his best 5k time of 15:24.98.

On the women's side, Kayla de Bondt, Danielle Shanahan and Kelli Sugimoto will race in the 1,500m while Grace Graham-Zamudio is set to compete in the 5,000m.

 

 

Shanahan's 16:08.82 time in the 5k has her postseason spot all but secured and the sophomore will look to improve on her 1,500m time of 4:24.86, which currently ranks 76th in the West Region. de Bondt's best 1,500m time of 4:25.33 is 81st. Sugimoto is 41st in the 5k with a season best time of 16:20.27 and will look to lower her 4:29.05 mark in the 1,500m.

Graham-Zamudio is set in the 10k with her season best time of 34:32.06 currently ranking 34th. The senior currently ranks 69th in the 5k with a best time of 16:33.83.

Sunday marks the final day to earn an NCAA qualifying performance. After final declarations are submitted, the list of student-athletes, by event, who have been accepted to compete in each preliminary championships competition, plus those who have been accepted to compete in the Heptathlon or Decathlon at the final championships competition, will be posted on the NCAA's website, Division I. Sports and Championships, Spring Sports, Outdoor Track & Field (M/W), by 1 p.m. Eastern.

The top 48 declared marks in each event will advance to the 2015 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field West Regional which will be held May 28-30 at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.
