Complete All-America lists.
LOS ANGELES - On the heels of her appearances at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships last week, LMU's Tara Erdmann has added to her accolades by earning two more All-American honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced Monday. Erdmann gained Second Team All-American honors in the 5,000m and was an Honorable Mention All-American selection in the 10,000m.
With the honors announced Monday, Erdmann has now earned five All-America honors in four consecutive athletics seasons. Last spring, she was a First Team selection in the 10,000m and equaled that feat this past fall in cross country. She was also a First Team All-American in the 3,000m during this past indoor track season. She is one of just nine female student-athletes in all of Division I to have earned All-America honors in 2010-11 in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track.
"For her to earn All-American recognition in three different sports in three different seasons during this academic year shows what an outstanding athlete she is," Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Scott Guerrero said. "It is a great accomplishment for her to close out this year."
Last week, Erdmann became the first female runner in LMU track history to race at the National Championships in two separate events. On Wednesday, she finished 21st in the 10,000m final and completed the week with a 12th-place showing in Friday's 5,000m final.
Erdmann, who has exhausted her eligibility in outdoor track, will return to LMU in the fall of 2011 with one more year remaining to run cross country and indoor track.
