July 3, 2010
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - On June 23, Erdmann travelled to Iowa where she competed in the 10000 meter race at the 2010 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The LMU Junior closed out a stellar collegiate track season garnering All-American honors at the NCAA Track & Field national championships in Eugene, OR in early June. Now looking forward, Erdmann is only continuing to earn a reputation as one the nation's best collegiate distance runners as she was asked to represent the USA at the NACAC Championships this summer.
This past week Erdmann travelled to Des Moines, IA to compete in the Track & Field USA Outdoor Championships at Drake Stadium. Erdmann ran the women's 10000meter race along with 26 other women from across the nation placing fifteenth overall and 34:23. Erdmann competed amidst the top competition in the nation with athletes from sponsored running clubs such as Nike, Brooks and Reebok as well as top collegiate athletes West Virginia and Georgetown. Amy Begley of Nike won the 10000meter race in 32:06. For full results see USATF Results
Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach Scott Guerrero said, "The USA National meet was a great experience and we got some great exposure and experience with competition at the next level. Running at the USATF meet was just another step in her progression. She's had a fantastic season and now to have the opportunity to represent Team USA in Florida is just icing. It definitely makes for a long season but that's not really an invite that you turn down."
Next up Erdmann will be looking to compete in the 5000meters in the Under-23 NACAC (North American, Central American, Caribbean) Championships. As one of the few west coast athletes invited to represent the USA in the under-23 NACAC (North American, Central American, Caribbean) Championships in July, Erdmann will be part of a USA team including athletes from historically prestigious track programs such as Kansas, Florida State, Clemson, Miami, Arizona State and West Virginia. From the west coast Nicole Blood of Oregon will join Erdmann to represent the USA in the 5k. Erdmann is the only athlete from the West Coast Conference from the men or women's team to be invited to the USA Track and Field Championships and will be in elite company.
