WCC Runner of the Month Video
LOS ANGELES - Redshirt senior Tara Erdmann earned the WCC runner of the month award for the month of September. The award is the third runner of the month honor in the past two years for Erdmann, who won the award in back-to-back months last fall.
The five-time All-American began her terrific month with a record-setting day at the UC Riverside Invitational. Erdmann ran a course and LMU 6k record 20:01.9 to win the individual title at the meet in Riverside, and led her team to a win at the invitational. She followed that performance with a 3rd place finish at the Stanford Invitational, leading the Lions to a fifth place finish in the competitive meet, the best of the six WCC teams running the meet.
Tara adds this award to her long list of achievements in cross-country and track. Last year, Tara became LMU's first All-American in cross-country. Erdmann placed 25th overall, 3rd in the West Region, at the NCAA Division I Cross Country National Championships last fall running 20:39.9 on the 6k course. She won the UC Riverside Invitational, placed 4th at the Stanford Invitational, 4th at the NCAA Pre-Nationals, and became only the second woman to win two WCC individual titles, setting the course record in the event.
In track, Erdmann earned her fourth and fifth All-American honors this past spring. She finished 12th in the 5,000m and 21st in the 10,000m at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track National Championships. On March 24th of this year, Tara ran the fastest 10,000m time in Division I in the past year.
