LOS ANGELES – Redshirt senior Danielle Shanahan will get the LMU track and field season started this Saturday, Dec. 2 in Boston at the Boston University Season Opener. She will be competing in the 5,000m race at 1:20 p.m. PST.
This event is an opportunity for Shanahan to run an early season indoor mark in the 5,000 meters. If her mark this weekend is one of the top-16 in the country at the end of the indoor regular season, she would qualify for the NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas March 9-10.
Shanahan last hit the track at the NCAA Championships in June, when she earned All-American honors after her 11th-place finish in the 5,000 meters at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. The redshirt senior recently competed in the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Ky. On Nov. 18, placing 43rd overall, just three places shy of All-American honors.
