Briefly... Melani Hom is in her senior season of running with the Lions... will serve as captain again this season...

At LMU... 2005... ran in three races for the Lions... season-best time came at Cal Poly Invitational (20:12)... in track, ran on the school record-setting 4x800 team (9:49.78)... topped her 1500m personal record by five seconds at the Triton Invitational (4:45.51)... 2004... posted a season-best time of 20:59 at the Aztec Invitational... crossed the line 14th with a time of 22:29 at the USD Invitational... 2003... ran the UC Irvine Invite in 22:01... was the third Lion finisher at the Aztec Invite, crossing the line in 20:49... had another scoring five finish at UC Riverside Invite (20:23)... rounded out the scoring five at the Stanford Invite with a time of 24:53... posted a career-best time (20:07) at her first WCC Championships...

High School... a 2003 graduate of Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, CA... competed in cross country for four years in high school and track and field for three... received scholar-athlete honors all four years... set the freshman/sophomore 800m record in 2001... earned cross country honors of most improved athlete in 2001 and 2002 and senior of the year in 2002.... prep coaches were Terry Fredricks and Bob Fish...

Mapuana is a freshman at LMU... father is a 1989 graduate of LMU... majoring in communication studies and minoring in business administration.
