At UC Santa Barbara... ran under coach Pete Dolan... ran 800m in 2:12.1, 1500m in 4:34.2, 5k in 18:02, 6k in 21:10... finish sixth in the 800m at the Big West Conference championships in 2009, 2011...

High School... graduated from University City High School... ran three years of varsity cross-country and four years of varsity track under coach Jim McCarthy... captain of both teams for sophomore, junior, and senior years... named All-San Diego for three years... All-Western League three years... All-CIF first team three years... ran 3 mile in 17:21, 5k in 18:11... received first-team academic-athletic honors... named first-team Western League... team MVP and most improved... on the track, four-time All-San Diego... four-time All-Eastern League... All-CIF as a freshman, sophomore and junior... ran 400m in 68.1 seconds, 800m in 2:14, 1500m in 4:44, 1600m in 5:06... received first-team academic-athlete honors... first-team All-Eastern League... team MVP... ... named to the Dean's List... received award as Asian-American Studies Top Essayist in 2009... ran with teammate Sheree Shea in high school... ran against teammate Caroline Draper in high school... covered as a high school athlete by the San Diego Union Tribune...

Personal... Sarah Jane Vitug was born October 5, 1990 to parents Josephine and Servando Vitug... has one brother, Steven... volunteered with Public Health Brigades in Honduras, the Santa Barbara Public Health Department, Casa Esperanza Homeless Shelter in Santa Barbara, and Environment Education for the Next Generation... considered UC Berkeley, UCLA and USC before choosing LMU... chose LMU because it's a "small scale school," its faculty-student ratio, "incredible coaching staff and strong athletic program," and the fact that it's located in the greater Los Angeles area... a biopsychology and communications double major.
