Cross Country Has Successful Debut at Fullerton Season Opener
Women win invite, men place 7th as partial squad runs new course

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Lions' women's cross country team finished in first-place at the Asics Season Opener in Brea, Calif while the men's team finished in seventh. LMU sent a partial squad for their first event of the season to run at a reconfigured course in Carbon Canyon Park.
The women's team totaled 39 points with a 3-5-6-12-13 finish led by sophomore Veronica Wallington, who finished the 6k race at 22:14.8 placing 3rd overall. Junior Caroline Draper finished 5th overall with a time of 22:25.4 followed by senior Brieanna Delaney close behind at 22:28.6 and finishing 6th. Sophomore Brittnie Munoz finished in 12th at 23:08.4 and freshman Aeoleone Bristowmade her debut with a 23:14.4 finish for 13th place to round out the Lions' top 5.
On the men's side, freshman Michael Vorgitch led the Lions finishing 29th overall in 26:32.9 for the 8k course. Freshman Jonathan Miller came in next for the Lions in 27.01.6 finishing 56th overall. Junior Greg Innes finished in 27.06.9 placing 63th overall. Senior Oran Arms came in at 27:12 with teammate Michael Carlone close behind in 27:12.6 and Douglas Petreein 27:13.2. The men placed 7th out of 19 teams.
The Lions will run with a full team at the UC Riverside Invitational on September 17th.
