SAN DIEGO - Running at the 63rd annual San Diego State Aztec Invitational, the Loyola Marymount cross country teams had a strong outing, placing two runners among the top-30 finishers on both the men's and women's side. The LMU women finished sixth of 14 teams, while the men's squad took seventh of 12 teams.

Defending Aztec Invitational individual champion Laura Mickelson was just two seconds away from a second-straight title, as she was out-kicked by USC's Sarah Cocco for a second place finish in 17:45.

Freshman Tara Erdmann gave the Lions another runner in the top-15 with her time of 18:17.

Brittany Rezowalli, Abby Fall, and Annie Holden rounded out the scoring five for the Lion women, who as a team topped UNLV, Saint Mary's, San Diego, and the host Aztecs.

Trevor Wiseman (22nd) and Brian McDonald (28th) led the Lion men to the seventh place team finish. Both Wiseman (26:28) and McDonald (26:33) finished under the LMU course record for Balboa Park set last season.

Lino Almeida, Mo Elmi, and Sean Sisk completed the scoring five for the Lion men. The men also topped West Coast Conference foes Saint Mary's and San Diego.

The Lions return to action next Saturday at 8:00 a.m. at the Pepperdine Invitational.
