Lions Finish Strong at Mustang Challenge

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The LMU men's and women's cross country teams each placed seventh in their respective fields of 18 teams Saturday at the Mustang Challenge hosted by The Master's College.

The Lions raced a `B' squad of runners who did not compete at last week's WCC Preview Meet in Santa Clara. On the women's side, Lorena Garcia was the top Lion finisher, placing 11th overall in 18:47.3 for the 5k course. Kelly Parsons was 34th in 19:16.9, Taylor Paschen was 42nd in 19:26.8, Jessica Gonzales was 47th in 19:35.1 and Evelyn Gonzalez was 63rd in 19:52.6.

For the men it was Ryan Vargas with the top LMU finish on the 8k course. The junior placed 14th overall in 26:26.9. Douglas Petree was 31st overall in 26:42.5, Harry Loasby was 38th in 26:55.3, Grant Lapovich was 42nd in 27:02.4 and Waseem Radi was 64th in 27:54.3.

 

 

The Lion `A' squad returns to action Saturday, Sept. 27, competing at the Stanford Invitational.
