Mumaugh, Duncan Lead Lions at Mustang Challenge
Women finish 3rd, Men 6th at meet hosted by The Master's College.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- LMU Cross Country saw a mix of seasoned veterans and young runners compete at the Mustang Challenge Collegiate Invitational meet hosted by The Master's College. Senior Jessica Mumaugh led the women's team, while freshman Michael Duncan crossed the finish line first for the men.
Mumaugh ran a time of 18:40.93 for 7th place overall. Freshman Samantha Garcia and junior Michelle Hickerson finished one spot apart as the 14th and 15th women to finish. Garcia recorded a time of 19:08.71, a personal best, for 14th, while Hickerson followed at 19:13.77 for 15th. Junior Laura Delgado ran a season-best 19:39.91, which placed her 20th overall. Freshman Kelly Parsons finished close behind for 21st place and a time of 19:43.73.
Overall the Lions finished third in the race with an average time of 19:17.41. Westmont College won the race with an average of 18:42.56.
The men were led by freshman Michael Duncan who ran a personal-best time of 26:30.47 for 8th place. Junior Dan Smith recorded a season-best time of 27:11.58 for 21st overall. Sophomore Andres Lopez came in at 27:25.20, also a season-best, which placed him 25th overall. Senior Greg Innes continued the season-best times for the Lions with a 27:39.42 for 32nd. Freshman Sam Worley and senior Michael Carlone finished seconds apart for 35th and 36th overall. Worley crossed the line at 27:48.8, while Carlone crossed at 27:50.03.
LMU's men were sixth overall. Hosts, The Master's College, won the race.
Next Saturday, Sept. 29, the Lions will be in Palo Alto, Calif. for the annual Stanford Invitational.
